Thompson House: Rehabilitation and Nursing Center - Residential Care in Brattleboro Vermont

A letter to residents, family and staff of Thompson House from our administrator

1/28/2022

Dear Families and Friends,

As you may know, we COVID test (the PCR test) all staff twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays. The results from yesterday’s testing have identified a staff member who tested positive-for-COVID. This is an LNA (Licensed Nursing Assistant) who worked with a number of residents last night. All are quarantined, none are symptomatic (including the LNA) and each has been antigen tested and are negative.

The families of the seven affected residents have been notified. Coordinating with the state epidemiologist at the Vermont Department of Health and our own Post-Acute Care team at BMH, we’ve placed the seven residents on quarantine, at the highest level of nursing care we’re able, and will be monitoring each for signs and symptoms of COVID repeatedly throughout each shift. ANY symptom will trigger immediate testing.

Please know that we, in concert with our clinical partners, are ready to act. The facility is in constant communication with the VT Department of Health and our physicians are being updated throughout the day. The VDH, to date, has made antiviral treatments available when needed and their quick response has been beyond our expectations.

Thank you for your continued understanding as we navigate these literally uncharted waters.

Melissa Osborne, RN, DON
